School Equipment for Pupils
We are incredibly proud of the learning experiences we provide for all of our children and remain committed to creating a stimulating, engaging, and well-resourced environment where every child can thrive.
Like many schools across the country, we are continuing to face significant financial pressures due to rising costs and limited increases in government funding. Unfortunately, the funding schools receive no longer fully covers the increasing cost of essential classroom resources, learning materials, and equipment used by children each day.
From September 2026, in order to maintain the high standards of teaching and learning that our children deserve, like Middle and Uppers Schools already do, we are now asking parents and carers to support us by providing some basic resources for their child to use in school.
A list of resources for each class are as follows:
Chestnut Reception Equipment Checklist
Birch Year 1 Equipment Checklist
Hazel Year 2 Equipment Checklist
Rowan Year 3 Equipment Checklist
Oak Year 4 Equipment Checklist
As a school, we will continue to provide whiteboard pens (for use with individual pupil whiteboards in school) and purple polishing pens for independent editing work (usually from Year 2 upwards).
By working together, we can ensure that children continue to have access to the tools they need to learn effectively, develop independence, and fully participate in all classroom activities.
We completely understand that families are also experiencing financial pressures, and we want to reassure you that we will always approach this sensitively and fairly. If providing any items causes difficulty, please contact the school office (via Studybugs or parents@clophillstmarysschool.co.uk) in confidence, so that we can offer support where possible.
To support your child to ensure they have everything they need, please:
- Name items wherever possible (especially glue sticks!)
- Check equipment half-termly and replace any items that are nearing their end of use
- Encourage children to prepare their own equipment, to build independence
- Confirm each year group's checklist above, before purchasing items for the next academic year
