Bookshare is relaunched!

As you are all aware, the importance of literacy to your child’s development is crucial.  Developing a love of reading and enjoying books is well known and documented as key to helping children succeed in their education.  By listening to texts, children also gain an understanding of what words actually mean and build their vocabulary.

We are delighted to reintroduce our Bookshare scheme which is an initiative to support with reading at home.  Bookshare is designed to support the important element of children having the opportunity to listen to different texts.  We have therefore set up a scheme where you can borrow a book from us to read at home to your child if you wish.

How does it work?

  • You can borrow any book (one at a time please) from our Bookshare libraries which are located in the Main School Porch and in the Acorn Nursery Lobby
  • You may borrow a book for as long as you like. We just ask that all books are looked after and returned by the end of each school year
  • You don’t have to ‘sign out’ or ‘sign in’ books’; they are being offered on good faith in the hope that they will be returned in the condition they are borrowed J

From Chestnut to Oak class, your child/children are on their own personal reading journey through our school reading scheme books and other books they may read to you at home.  Our Bookshare scheme is intended to support you to read stories to your child rather than teaching them how to read.

We hope that you enjoy using Bookshare and that it becomes a beneficial resource for you.  Thank you to all parents and families who have donated books.  We do not require any additional Bookshare donations at present but will let you know if and when this opens up again.
