National Walking Month: May 2021
May is National Walking Month.
As we all know - walking is a great form of exercise that is good for our health. It is also good for the environment!
Walking is something free we can do anywhere. For example we can:
- take the stairs instead of the lift
- take a lunchtime stroll
- walk our pets (or offer to walk someone else's!)
- explore our local area, or enjoy a day out in the countryside, beach or park!
We know that many of you already do this but, as part of National Walking Month, families could also choose to walk to school rather than travel by car. Even if you live further away, you could park further away and walk part of the way instead!
To promote National Walking Month and walking to school, we are promoting the resources on the Living Streets website.
Here they have a fantastic activity booklet and activity diary to use when you're walking from home! You can download them by clicking on the icons below:
In addition, to support with road safety, as part of walking to school, we're attaching an important safety poster to share with your children. Again, this can be downloaded by clicking on the icon below:
In school this month, as part of our PSHE curriculum, we will also be talking about the benefits of walking.
(If you would like a copy of the booklet, diary or road safety poster but don't have a printer at home, please ask Mrs. Topliff, our School Business Manager, for a copy.)
