Easter R.E. Day - 25.03.21

On Thursday 23rd March, we celebrated a wonderful R.E. day, exploring the Easter story but more importantly the idea of salvation and the values of hope and forgiveness.

Throughout the day we discussed the idea of transformation firstly by briefly exploring the idea of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, making our own individual, beautiful butterflies and then, relating this to Jesus going from his human form into that of the Holy Spirit.

We explored Holy Week in various ways across the year groups but all enjoyed the special Easter Story through colours poem (some of us even got to eat the matching jelly beans!!!).

We discussed where this special story fitted into the ‘bigger picture’ in the Gospels of the New Testament and Hazel class explored Gospel in more detail learning and Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The word Gospel translates into good news and this day was about just that, spreading the news that Christians believe Jesus lived so all mankind could be forgiven.

It was a day of exploration, discussion, thoughtfulness and most importantly lots of craft fun.

We will be making a collaborative display to continue our special Bible frieze in the hall with all the wonderful contributions from each class, from the day.
